Narrative theory: Eminem Stan

Narrative is the way the story is organised in film, tv shows or music videos. narrative is cut down to three element:

• Closure
• Enigma

As my thriller video was only 2 minutes long there was only a equilibrium and disruption, and the story was slyly liner, however if the film was much longer there would be a enigma and a new equilibrium.

In modern day hollywood it is now common for a film to have multiple sub plots and for it to cover a longer time period.

The equilibrium of my thriller video was the inspecter looking for clues of the terrorist and the disruption was when he was eventually killed by the terrorist.

The equilibrium for the Eminem Stan video is where Stan is a massive fan of Eminem and he lives with his girlfriend who is pregnant.

In my media lesson we was told to create a practise digipak cover so that we would know what to do when it comes to creating the digipak. We had used photoshop to add in the album title and to manipulate the background.

A music video is a small film that contains images and music produced by artist to promote themselves or an upcoming album. there are many styles of music video. List Shown Below:

Studio Performances

studio performances is when a music video is being shot in a controlled environment (studio). A studio contains many props, costumes, green screen and lighting. 

Animation
animation is when a music video is being created with much more technology such as special effects of cartoon people or cartoon props.
Narrative
Narrative is the way the story is organised in film, tv shows or music videos.
Live/Concert
this is when a song is being displayed to a live audience instead of an music video where it can be viewed on electrical devices such as phones, laptops and many more.
Parody
This is when music video has already been released however a third party would make another video with a request to the artist. A parody is when the third party uses the same idea as the artist however they make it their own.

What is a Digipak

A digipak is when an artist releases a new album on a paperboard, cardholder that has plastic binding to keep it together they also have one or more slots for CDs. Artist use digipaks to make special versions of the album.

50 Cent Animal Ambition

The album digipak has many elements that relate to the music and background of 50 cents album Animal Ambition.

1.    The big 50 sign on the front cover of the digipak is bigger than the actual album title. This logo is 50 cents logo as well as a brand. Only real fans will understand this logo as soon as they see it.

2.    The album name is smaller than the other features of this album cover. This maybe because he had left his record label and he wants to re-build himself as a brand so main focus is on him instead of the album. The font of the album name is very rough. This is because of the genre of the music in the album and also because of 50 cents background “gangster”

3.    This is smaller than the main title as it is more of a quote/ punchline so it may reach to 50 cents fans as fans get excited with powerful punch lines such as this one. Also this punch line is much related to the album name Animal ambition as it gives you a direct understanding of it.

4.    This hat is representing the genre (Rap) of music in this album. It shows the life of a hood, gangster or thug which is very understandable.

5.    50 cent has left his beard very rough. This is because he wants to make himself look as well as an animal to support his album title Animal Ambition.

6.    This facial expression represent the rap genre in the album as there is no happy fantasy life in the streets full of thugs.

7.    In all rap albums they would put the “parental advisory” on it. This is because there is offensive and bad language in the album so it warns anyone that buys it.

8.    The album cover is split into two sides. One of the king of the jungle the lion and 50 cent himself. This supports the album title animal ambition.

Jay Z & Kanye West Watch the Throne


The color of this album is gold, gold represent success and wealth. This color also represent the success of the 2 rappers Kanye west and Jay z as they are both very powerful rappers in the music industry. The color gold signifies the two rappers because they are both solo artists however the album is collaborative. The look of the album represents the album name Watch the throne as it has the elements of a Throne/Crown.
The inside of the Watch the Throne digipak shows portraits of kanye west and jay z. The colour of the inside is black and white which goes with the gold album cover. What makes the the inside look power is that both of Kanye West and Jay Z have been blended in together with a tiger. Wild animals such as tigers and lions are very aggressive and dominant which relates to jay z and kanye west where they have dominantly taken over the rap game. With Jay Z and Kanye West's faces being blended in with animals it shows they superiority in the game.    


For our digipak we was thinking about taking photos of the locations that we was going to and for the front cover we was going to create a animated picture of a snake.
